Hearing on Khaleda’s petitions deferred again

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has deferred until July 24 the hearing on petitions lodged by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia which question the legality of the appointment of a lower court judge.

A five-member bench led by Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain adjourned the hearing in reply to a time petition filed by the defence on Monday morning.

The defence lawyers have filed the petition mentioning that they are yet to get a copy of a High Court order on the issue.

Earlier on July 13, the apex court deferred the hearing until July 21 following the same issue.

On July 7, Khaleda challenged the High Court rulings that rejected petitions to stop trials against her and eight others in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases.
