The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court yesterday deferred until July 21 the hearing on petitions lodged by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia which question the legality of the appointment of a lower court judge.
A five-member bench led by Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain adjourned the hearing in reply to a time petition since the defence has yet to get a copy of a High Court order on the same issue.
The court also fixed July 24 for the hearing of her other two petitions – filed challenging the High Court’s rejection order of two revision petitions.
On July 7, Khaleda challenged the High Court rulings that rejected petitions to stop trials against her and eight others in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases.
