BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has called upon the international community including the United Nations to stop attacks on Palestinians in Gaza.
“The attacks by the Israeli force are the cruelest military drive held in recent history. I am calling upon the international community including the United Nations to take initiatives to put pressure on Israel to stop military drives on the Palestinian people,” she said in a statement yesterday.
The former premier said if Israel held on to its aggressive attitude then peace would not return in the Middle East.
She said the Palestinian people were not being spared from the attacks even during the holy month of Ramadan.
“By confiding the Palestinian people in the Gaza valley for years, humanity is in dire straits,” she said.
The BNP chief said the Gaza valley had been turned into a deserted area and thousands of its people were searching for shelters to save themselves.
Khaleda said she believed that the military drive was carried to destroy the logical demands of the Palestinians.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed while more than 600 were severely injured in the repeated attacks held recently.
Meanwhile, acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maqbul Ahmed has condemned the attacks in Palestinian Gaza strip.
“I am calling upon the United Nations and the peace loving states to take effective steps to stop the brutal attacks and genocide on the Palestinian citizens of the Gaza strip. Israel is continuing the attacks paying no heed to the world community’s objection,” he said.
The fugitive Jamaat leader said the humanitarian people of Bangladesh have taken stance against the Israeli invasion, however, the rogue Israeli government is not taking the views into consideration.
