A transport strike is underway in four districts of Sylhet division on Tuesday to press home its six-point demands.
Bangladesh Road Transport Workers' Federation Sylhet unit are observing strike in Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Sunamganj and Sylhet districts. The strike began around 6am and will continue till 6pm.
No long route buses were seen plying on the roads during the strike.
The federation's Divisional President Selim Ahmed Folik said they have called the strike demanding immediate arrest of the killers of driver Jahangir, tracing missing driver Sohel and protesting dismissal of 23 workers of Lafarge Surma Cement Company at Chattak of Sunamganj.
Sylhet Superintendent of Police Nur Alam Meena said: “The strike is being observed peacefully. However, the people are suffering because of the strike which has been called without any reason.”
