Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said all the members of the Zia family are killers.
The ruling party president made the statement while addressing a discussion at Suhrawardi Udyan marking the 65th founding anniversary of Awami League.
"All the members of the Zia family are killers. Their hands are stained with the blood of Bangabandhu and people of the country," Hasina alleged.
"They also killed people before and after the January 5 general elections."
She said Khaleda Zia tried to prove the country as a failed state.
Sheikh Hasina also termed late president Ziaur Rahman a betrayer for joining hands with Khandakar Moshtaque in the assassination of Bangabandhu.
"Ziaur Rahman played the role of saviour of the self-proclaimed killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," said the premier.
She said Awami League gifted an independent and sovereign Bangladesh to the nation.
"Awami League was established with a view to achieving freedom of the Bangali nation. All that the nation achieved has been brought by the Awami League," said Hasina.
She also termed June 23 [founding day of Awami League] as a memorable day in the history of the Bangali nation.
