Khaleda:I am peoples' representative

Claiming herself as the friend of the people, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said she was the representative of the common people.

She said: “I came here [Joypurhat] to address you as your representative, neither as the representative of the government nor of the opposition party.”

The BNP chief made the statement while addressing a public rally in Joypurhat on Sunday afternoon.

Khaleda said: “The people of the country are with the BNP as they did not cast their votes for the illegal Awami League government in the January 5 polls. The Awami League is afraid of arranging elections under a non-partisan interim government as it knows that people do not want them.”

Addressing the people, she said: “I was with you in the past and will stay with the mass people of the country in the future. Let us wage a mass movement after Eid in order to oust the illegal government.”
