In a dramatic move, former Awami League lawmaker from Feni Joynal Hazari has filed a general diary (GD) against Feni 2 parliamentarian Nizam Uddin Hazari, saying that his life is in danger and he is suffering from insecurity because of Nizam.
Joynal filed the GD with Dhanmondi police station on Monday night. In the diary, he said he was apprehensive that Nizam was planning to kill him.
Joynal also mentioned that he could have been Nizam’s strongest opposition in the tenth national election but could not get the chance to contest it.
In a recent ruling, the High Court sought explanation for why Nizam’s post as a lawmaker would not be declared vacant. There has been allegation against Nizam that he hid information and walked out of jail without serving the 34-month term.
The information was also presented before the court and it is now predicted that Nizam’s post would be declared unfilled.
Joynal in the GD said that Nizam might take action against him, and could even kill him, because he suspected that the information was disclosed by him [Joynal] to the court.
“I think Nizam is the mastermind of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram murder. He is also a notorious criminal. In this situation, I am passing my days in insecurity and considering my life under threat,” the GD read.
Abu Siddique, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that investigation was underway in the context of the GD.
Apart from filing the GD, Joynal has also run a story about it in the Daily Hazarika Pratidin, a newspaper he owns.
Mentioning Nizam’s current Saudi Arabi Hajj tour, the report said he went to the kingdom to hatch a conspiracy to kill Joynal.
“From Saudi Arabia, Nizam, along with his cronies including Sheikh Abdullah and three other Awami League leaders, will go to a different country to make a foolproof plan to kill Joynal. Nizam also had made a plan to kill Joynal before Ekram was killed,” according to the report.
The report said Nizam earlier went to Singapore with his wife and returned home after planning how Ekram would be killed. “This time he has again flown abroad and would be back after making plans for more disaster.”
Earlier on May 19, Hazarika Pratidin published news about Ekram’s killing and the following day the upazila chairman was shot and burnt to death at Academy road in the district.
Most of the miscreants taking part in the killing are believed to be close associates of Nizam.
