PM: Place Khaleda, Tarique on remand for Zia killing

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Zia will have to be taken on remand first for holding of the trial of killing of President Ziaur Rahman.

The premier came up with the remark replying to a journalist query about Tarique Zia's recent demand for putting Hasina on remand in connection with the Zia killing, reports BSS.

"Whatever link the mother and son have with the killing of Zia will have to be looked into," she told a crowded press conference at the Ganabhaban on Saturday afternoon on the outcome of her recent China visit.

"Khaleda Zia was in power thrice. But why didn't she investigate and hold trial of the killing of her husband?" she asked.

Moreover, the premier said Tarique Zia amassed huge wealth by opening Hawa Bhaban and controlled everything from administration to army.

"But why didn't he hold trial of the killing of his father?" she also raised question.
