Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) will field its candidates in all 300 constituencies in the next general elections.
Central Joint Secretary General of the IOJ Mainuddin Ruhi announced the matter during a meeting with the newly formed committee of the organisation’s Chittagong chapter in the port city on Thursday.
Ruhi, who is also the central joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, said the IOJ had already decided to run in the polls and nominate favourable spirants for all the parliamentary seats.
“The masses are expecting the Islamic parties to come to state power, bolstering Islamic ideology to help establish the rule of law in the country. So we are keen to form a social Islamic government in Bangladesh to make their dream come true,” he added.
“We believe in protecting the rights of the oppressed. Bangladesh will emerge as a modern ideal Islamic state if religious-minded people and Islamic scholars could come to state power,” he further said.
According to Ruhi, candidates endorsed by the Islamic scholars (Alem, Ulema and Mashayekh) should be voted to power in this regard.
He also issued a clarion call to all for joining the IOJ to help turn Bangladesh into a welfare state.
