The tenure of contractual appointments of the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) Chairman and four members of the SEC board have been extended.
The public administration ministry issued separate gazette notifications in this regard on Thursday.
Of them, Chairman Dr Kahirul Hossain’s contract has been extended for next four years which would be effective from May 15. He has been serving the SEC as its chairman from August 23, 2011.
Besides, the contracts of SEC’s two members Professor Helal Uddin Nizami and Arif Khan were also extended for next four years. The extension of their job would be effective from May 29.
Meanwhile, the contracts of two other members Amzad Hossain and A Salam Sikder were extended until their age would be 65 years. Amzad Hossain will reach to 65 on April 30, 2018 while A Salam Sikder on January 28, 2017.
Amzad Hossain’s extension will be effective from May 29 while Salam Sikder’s from July 14.
