Awami League Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim has said Khadela Zia’s speech is claiming Zia as the first president of Bangladesh tantamount to sedition.
He made the statement in a press briefing at party’s Dhanmondi office on Thursday afternoon.
The Awami League senior leader said: “Khadela Zia’s speech is tantamount to sedition. It is time to take legal action against her fabricated speech.”
Indicating BNP, Nasim said: “They are plotting to destroy democracy and the spirit of the Liberation War.”
Nasim said: “You [BNP] have played enough political games along with Jamaat and now it is time to calm down.”
BNP should exercise true politics leaving Jamaat, he added.
The latest comments of Khaleda Zia and her elder son, BNP senior vice chairman, Tarique Rahman regarding Zia’s presidency has sparked a wave of criticism.
Tarique Rahman, eldest son of Khaleda Zia and Ziaur Rahman, at a discussion in London first claimed that his father was the first president of the country citing the same logic.
