Pirojpur, Feni BNP aspirants struggle to campaign

BNP blessed candidates in three upazilas of Pirojpur and Feni alleged that they were not be able to campaign properly in the upcoming forth phase of upazila elections scheduled for March 23 as the AL backed candidates harassing them in many ways, including filing the cases against them.

Our Pirojpur correspondent reports: the BNP backed chairman candidate Ruhul Amin Dulal for Mathbaria upazila from a press briefing yesterday alleged that he was not be able to conduct campaign as local cadres of the AL backed candidates were beating up the party activists continuously and filing cases against them.

Dulal also said the ill moves of the ruling AL made difficult for his activists to attend the campaign ahead of the polls

Our Feni correspondent adds: Daganbhuiyan police on Sunday filed several cases against 120 local leaders and activists BNP on charge of attacking law enforcers during the March 15 third phase of upazila polls.

Dagonbhuiyan police station OC Anwarul Azim confirmed it, saying BNP backed chairman candidate Akbar Hossain swooped on police vehicles at Alayearpur Primary School polling centre.

Single candidates from the AL are vying in Sonagazi and Fulgazi upazila and they are expecting to win while BNP secured chairmen posts in two other upazilas in the immediate past polls.

The AL candidates across the country are trying to take lead like the third spell in the next two phases of upazila polls scheduled for March 23 and 31 respectively across the country.

Rebel candidates in both parties have appeared main factor to win the upcoming uapzila parishad polls while Jamaat is doing well by giving single candidate.
