A Dhaka court has sent three BNP leaders including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member Mirza Abbas and Abdus Salam to jail, rejecting their bail petitions in connection with three separate cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh police stations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan has passed the order on Sunday.
The three leaders surrendered before the trial court complying with a Supreme Court directive.
Earlier on March 9, a five-member bench of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain scrapped the HC order that granted eight weeks bail order for five top BNP leaders.
The three cases were filed in connection with the killings of a policeman and three others during December-January anti-government protest.
The SC directed them to surrender before the trial court.
