A Barisal court has sent the city Jamaat-e-Islami ameer to jail in a case filed for hartal violence.
Meanwhile, charge sheets have been issued against 19 BNP-Jamaat activists in another case regarding hartal violence.
District Metropolitan Magistrate Rafiqul Islam passed the order, after the Jamaat leader surrendered before the court with a bail plea.
Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal, Jamaat-e-Islami Barisal city unit ameer, was wanted in a case of hartal violence on December 5, 2013.
On other hand, 19 Jamaat-Shibir activists have been charged with a case lodged in connection of damaging and burning buses of city service near Sadar upazila parishad during Hartal on September 19, 2013.
The accused are Aminul Islam Khasru, nayebey ameer of city Jamaat, Abdullah Al Nahian, president city Shibir, Rafikul Islam, president B M College Shibir, Kazi Mohidul, Ahsan Habib, Shohidul, Jobaer, Mantu, Akash Khan and others.
