AL grassroots form human chain

Root level leaders and activists of Lalmonirhat district Awami League yesterday demanded exemplary punishment for a section of the district’s party leaders and activists for vandalising and burning the portraits of Bangabandhu, party president and the local parliamentarian.

Through a human chain held in front of the Awami League district office, the protesters claimed that a group of activists, led by some district and upazila unit level Awami League leaders, vandalised and torched the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina and local MP Abu Sayeed Dulal at Teesta village of Gokunda union on Friday night

They also claimed that the culprits were also involved in a conspiracy against Awami League-backed candidates during the upazila polls in Lalmonirhat, which helped BNP-backed candidates to secure an easy win.
