Injured Chhatra League leader dies at a city hospital

Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Heaven Chowdhury, who was seriously injured in a factional clash at Nabiganj Sadar upazila of the district died yesterday evening at Apollo Hospital in the capital.

The deceased hailed from Borhanpur village under the upazila. He was the joint convener of the Nabiganj College unit Chhatra League.

Local sources said Heaven and Parvez had a conflict with another convener Abul Kashem of Nabiganj College unit Chhatra League. Centring the conflict, a clash took place between followers of the two groups of Chhatra League in Central Plaza area of Nabiganj Sadar upazila on February 24.

At least three people including Heaven Chowdhury were injured in the incident. Locals took seriously injured Heaven Chowdhury to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital and admitted him there.

Later, he was sent to Apollo Hospital in Dhaka by helicopter on February 25.

After fighting for three days, he succumbed to injury Friday evening.

Nabiganj Upazila Awami League General Secretary Saiful Jahan Chowdhury confirmed the news of his death.

The body of Heaven would be brought back to his village home soon.
