Communication Minister Obaidul Quader has said the results of the first phase of the upazila parishad elections have exposed the ruling Awami League’s weak points and the party should take lessons from the defeat to rectify itself.
"The leaders of the Awami League should take lessons from this defeat and be more conscious,” he said while speaking at a discussion-meeting on Mother Language Day, organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League, at Dhaka University Teachers and Students Centre yesterday.
Criticised Chhatra League leaders and activists of for their ‘frequent wrongdoings,’ the minister also warned that rogue activists of its Rajshahi University unit will be penalised if found guilty.
“Just like Biswajit murderers, adequate punishment will be awarded to any leader or activist found guilty in the Rajshahi University incident,” he noted.
