Moudud, Rafiqul, Mahbub freed

BNP leaders Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah and Khandakar Mahbub Hossain have been released from Kashimpur Jail.

Kashimpur Jail Superintendent Jahangir Alam said Moudud was released from Kashimpur Jail part 1 at 12:35pm while Rafiqul and Mahbub were freed around 11:20am.

Family members and party leaders greeted the BNP leaders at jail gate.

BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed had acquired bail in all the cases filed against him after the High Court bailed him in a land grabbing lawsuit of the Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday.

On Sunday, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the High Court order to bail of four BNP leaders including Moudud Ahmed and Rafiqul Islam Mia in two cases filed with Motijheel police station.

Moudud and Rafiqul were detained from in front of Sonargaon hotel on November 8 last year while Khandaker Mahbub was arrested from the capital's National Press Club on January 7.
