Local unit BNP called a 48-hour hartal in Madan, Netrokona, the constituency of Lutfozzaman Babar, protesting his death verdict in arms smuggling case.
The shutdown will be enforced in the area from Friday 6am, Madan BNP President MA Hares told the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday afternoon after the verdict.
Former junior home minister during BNP rule Babar was found guilty in the 10-trucks arms smuggling case and was awarded death along with 13 others.
The hartal call was made hours after the Chittagong court delivered the verdict 10 years after the smuggling was caught in 2004.
