Tough fight among relatives for Muksudpur upazila chairman post

There will be a tough fight among the relatives for the post of Muksudpur upazila chairman in Goplagnaj.

Awami League upazila unit president Advocate Atikur Rahman Mia, his son-in-law Md Kabir Mia (AL leader) and his nephew Ahajjad Mohasin Khipu (BNP leader) submitted their nomination papers to Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Khairuzzaman on Saturday, the last day of submitting nomination papers.

On the other hand, the election of Kotalipara upazila will be held on February 27. Aspirant candidates and their supporters are collecting nomination papers from assistant returning officer.

Now, they are attending social events with a view to introducing themselves with the local voters.

In addition, it was also learnt that many candidates and also Awami-backed candidates are staying in the capital in a bid to get favours from party’s high-ups.

The premier will talk with the party leader of Kotalipara upazila today at the PM office, said Kotalipara upazila Awami League president Advocate Shubash Chandra Joydhar.

A total of 31 candidates have submitted nomination papers to contest for the post of chairman in the upcoming elections of Koira and Digholia upazilas in Khulna.

Of them, eight candidates submitted nomination papers for the post of chairman from Koira upazila.

Meanwhile, five candidates submitted nomination papers to contest for the post of chairman from Digholia upazila.

All these nomination papers were submitted by candidates of Awami League, BNP, JaPa, CPB and Jamaat-e-Islami.

From Koira upazila, five candidates of Awami League, two of BNP and one of Jamaat submitted nomination papers to vie for the post of upazila chairman.

Meanwhile, two Awami League and two BNP candidates submitted nomination papers to contest for the post of chairman of Digholia upazila.
