The Kazi Zafar-led Jatiya Party has joined the 18-party alliance on Saturday evening.

Kazi Zafar met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence and formally joined the opposition alliance.

Zafar went to Khaleda’s Gulshan office at 7:30pm while Khaleda Zia arrived at her office at 7:43pm, reports this correspondent.

Presidium Member of Ershad's Jatiya Party Ahsan Habib Linkan has also joined the opposition alliance along with Kazi Zafar.

Earlier in the afternoon, Kazi Zafar made the announcement to join the 18-party alliance during a press briefing held at his Gulshan residence in the afternoon.

He made the briefing after the extended meeting of the central committee of his party, which he claims to be the “real Jatiya Party.”

Kazi Zafar said the HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party is actually an “Awami Jatiya Party” citing that most of the party’s members are with him.
