Khaleda's adviser Mintoo freed

Abdul Awal Mintoo, an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, was freed from Dhaka Central Jail in Kashimpur on Thursday evening.

Kashimpur Jail part-1 Superintendent Abdul Kuddus said the BNP leader was freed around 7pm after verification of court paperwork.

Family, relatives and party leaders greeted the BNP leader at the jail gates, witnesses said.

Law enforcers nabbed Mintoo on November 9 and later showed him arrested in a case filed over arson and explosion during recent agitation.

Earlier, BNP Joint Secretary Mahbub Uddin Khokan and former lawmaker Sakhawat Hossain Bokul were freed from Kashimpur on Wednesday.

The BNP leaders are being freed amidst circumstances that the party is refraining from agitation programmes and engaging the public peacefully.
