Fakhrul's presser at noon

BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will appear before the media in a press conference on Wednesday noon.

His appearance comes at a time when the post-polls speech of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has come under criticism of the ruling Awami League.

The presser will be held at BNP's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital at 12noon, Sairul Kabir Khan, an official of BNP chairperson's press wing told the Dhaka Tribune.

This will be Mirza Fakhrul's maiden appearance before the media after the 10th parliamentary polls were held on January 5 without the BNP.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in her post-polls maiden appearance, raised questions over the role of the joint forces regarding their crackdown in Satkhira.

She had hinted at involvement of foreign forces in that region, an area believed dominated by Jamaat, during her speech at Suhrawardy Udyan on Monday.

Awami League, in reaction to the statement, slammed Khaleda for “deteriorating the credibility” of law enforcers and asked her to apologise within 24 hours.

Fakhrul's presser is expected to shed light on this issue that comes amidst calls from the United States for fresh elections – the demand of BNP at this moment.
