A Dhaka court yesterday rejected the bail petitions for BNP leader Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Shammi Akther in cases filed separately with Ramna and Banani police stations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge MdJuhurul Haque passed the order after hearing the bail petition for Mahbub, filed by defence counsel Md Sanaullah Miah.
On the other hand, another Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected the bail and remand petitions for Shammi Akther and sent her to jail.
Mahbub Uddin Khokon was accused in three cases, one filed with Ramna police station over killing a police constable in Bangla Motor arson incident in the capital, and another two cases with Motijheel police station.
BNP leader Shammi Akther was implicated in a case filed with Banani police station.
The defence lawyer mentioned in the plea that police arrested the leader as he spoke against the government.
Earlier on January 9,Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court rejected his bail plea. The defence counsel filed bail petition for the accused.
On December 26, the detectives arrested Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon from the capital’s Segun Bagicha area.
On the other hand, Md Sanaullah Miah filed a remand rejection and bail petition for Shammi.
On December 25, Banani police arrested Shammi Akhter from Gulshan and showed her as arrested in an arson case field with Banani police station.
