A Dhaka court on Sunday has scrapped bail and remand petitions for former BNP Lawmaker Shammi Akhter in a case filed for vandalizing and torching vehicles near Titumir College in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Haq dismissed both petitions after the hearing and sent her in jail.
On January 7, Investigation Officer Amirul Islam filed the remand petition for interrogation.
On the other hand, Shammi’s Lawyer Sanaulla Mia filed a bail plea.
The judge also denied the bail plea filed by the BNP leader’s lawyer.
On December 25, Shammi was picked up by law enforcers in front of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in the capital.
