AL veterans back in cabinet

Veteran leaders of the ruling Awami League are brought back to the new cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Awami League Presidium Member Mohammad Nasim has been given the charge of health ministry. The senior AL leader was the home minister in the Hasina-led 1996 cabinet.

Veteran Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed has been given back his previous commerce ministry that he had been assigned in the 1996 cabinet.

AL senior leader Amir Hossain Amu has got the charge of industries ministry.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also chosen a number of new faces in the new cabinet.

Advocate Anisul Haque, who was the chief counsel for the state in the Bangabandhu murder case, was given the law ministry, while Asaduzzaman Noor, lawmaker from Nilphamari 2, has been given the charge of cultural ministry.

Cabinet Division sources have confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the portfolios of the new ministers.

A 49-member cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was sworn in on Sunday afternoon.

The 10th parliamentary polls were held on January 5 amidst a boycott from the then main opposition BNP.
