AL men torched schools, claims Fakhrul

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the acting Secretary General of BNP, has claimed that ruling Awami League men had torched schools across the country prior to the 10th parliamentary polls. He made the claim in a statement issued on Wednesday evening. Mirza Fakhrul also condemned post-polls attacks on Hindu communities across the country. He said: "We condemn terrorist attacks on Hindu communities." He also made a call on behalf of Khaleda Zia to continue the blockade throughout the country for indefinite time as a part of their ongoing movement for the demand of caretaker government.

The BNP secretary general blamed the ruling party for arson attacks on schools that had been used as voting centres.

Claiming the ruling party members had set fire on schools, Mirza Fakhrul said: "[they] set fire on schools by [their] people, and have been blaming the opposition."

Earlier 531 schools were torched throughout the country on pre-polls vandalism before the days of Election Day.

He urged his party men to save the lives and belonging of all the people of the country on behalf Of Khaleda Zia.
