Obaidul warns of hardline

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday warned that the government would be bound to adopt a hardline in order to save the lives and properties of the country’s people.

He said: “The government will take a hardline if the opposition BNP continues with the ongoing violence and subversive activities in the name of a so-called movement. We will be bound take steps against them in order to save people’s lives and property.”

The minister came up with the forewarning while briefing journalists at the Awami League’s Dhanmondi party offices, in the afternoon.

He urged the opposition leader to take steps towards meaningful dialogue in order to reach a consensus for the next elections.

Obaidul, also a presidium member of Awami League, said the election train has already arrived at its destination with the opposition BNP missing the ride. He said the BNP would soon realise their folly by not having participated in the election.
