BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged people not to go to polling centres to cast vote.
The BNP spokesperson made the call in a press release circulated on Saturday.
“I am urging all not to go to polling stations for defeating all the anti-democratic conspiracies,” said Fakhrul.
He alleged: “Awami League is politically bankrupt. So it is trying to remain in power through holding an election which is not connected with the people.”
He claimed the election drama is going to be staged in association with joint forces.
In the press release, Fakhrul also called people to wage a “peaceful” movement against the election.
Fakhrul alleged the election is aimed to establish an “autocratic rule” by destroying democratic norms.
He also alleged that Awami League is dividing the nation in a planned manner.
