Awami League Presidium Member Tofail Ahmed alleged that BNP Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman has provoked the party activists to carry out violence by his video message.
The Awami League senior leader made the allegation at a press conference at party president’s Dhanmondi office on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, Tarique Rahman called out to unite and resist the government’s autocracy and its farcial polls at any cost.
The video message was sent from the United Kingdom on Saturday, a day ahead of the 10th parliamentary elections in the country.
Tofail Ahmed said election could not be foiled by countrywide blasts of crude bombs.
“People’s support is a must to carry on any kind of movement. But BNP lacks people’s support,” he said.
Tofail alleged that Khaleda Zia ordered Jamaat activists to create violence across the country.
He said: “Khaleda Zia is not under house arrest. If so, then how is it that the foreign delegates are able to meet her?”
He requested the people to be careful about the culprits against democracy.
“We have tried our best to hold dialogue. But BNP did not cooperate with us,” he added.
