Law enforcers did not allow Jatiya Party to hold their founding anniversary programme in the capital on Wednesday morning.
Dhaka metropolitan unit of the Hussein Muhammad Ershad-led party arranged the programme at a convention centre in Gulshan 1, Dhaka in the morning.
Police forced everyone out of the venue and took away the banner, Jatiya Party Dhaka metropolitan north unit President HM Faisal Chishti told the Dhaka Tribune.
However, no police comments could be obtained during the time of filing this report over why the programme was not allowed just days ahead of polls.
HM Ershad's Jatiya Party is apparently the main opposition participating in the January 5 national elections in absence of the main opposition BNP.
