Police freed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisor Inam Ahmed Chowdhury hours after he was detained in the capital’s Paltan.
Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
However, he declined to make further comments regarding the matter.
Inam Ahmed Chowdhury was detained, along with several other party activists, from Paltan on Sunday afternoon.
The detentions were made during the day the main opposition BNP was expected to hold its scheduled Dhaka March programme.
