Police unleashed water-cannon on a protesting group of pro-BNP lawyers at Supreme Court premises on Sunday ahead of Dhaka March programme.
About 100 lawyers of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Parishad tried to bring out a procession and march towards Nayapaltan at around 11:30am.
BNP chairperson's adviser Osman Faruk, party leader Sanaullah Mia, Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Parishad leader Quamrul Islam Sajal and lawyers of Dhaka Judge Court were at the Supreme Court premises.
However, police intervened and used water cannons in an attempt to break the gathering.
But, the lawyers were regrouping and chanting slogans in support of the Dhaka March programme.
Later, the law enforcers locked the main gates of the Supreme Court and lobbed two sound grenades and a teargas shell to dispel the protestors.
The lawyers were under shelter inside the court premises. Law enforcers, the water canon and an armoured vehicle were stationed outside.
