PM terms BNP movements act of terrorism

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has termed the ongoing protest programmes called by the main opposition BNP as act of terrorism and militancy.

She said: “The ongoing nationwide protest staged by the BNP-led 18-party alliance is not the movement of mass people rather it is an act of terrorism and militancy.”

The premier made the remarks while exchanging view with the Christian community people ahead of the Christmas day at her government residence Gonobhaban on Tuesday evening.

Mentioning that BNP has already missed the chance to join the 10th general election, Hasina said: “The leader of the opposition, Khaleda Zia, herself does not realize  what wrong she has done by taking the decision of not joining the polls.”

She urged the people of the country to become united in order to defeat the ongoing violence across the country.

The PM expressed hope that such “terrorist moves” could not affect the spirit of secularism in the country.
