Rajshahi BCL leader’s tendons severed

The tendons of a Bangladesh Chhatra League leader were severed in Rajshahi University campus premises in broad daylight on Wednesday morning.

Miscreants attacked Shimul Ahmed, Motihar unit Chhatra League joint convener, near the agriculture faculty of the university around 11am, police said.

“They severed the tendons in the hands and legs of Shimul with sharp weapons,” he said. But, he did not specify who were behind the incident.

Locals rushed the victim to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

“Attempts are on to arrest the miscreants as soon as possible,” Motihar police Sub Inspector Monirul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune.

The incident took place during nationwide violence of the Jamaat-e-Islami after the execution of their leader and war criminal Abdul Quader Molla.
