Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said dialogue with the BNP can be held but over the 11th parliamentary elections.
The minister made the remark while speaking to journalists at Setu Bhaban, this afternoon.
“There is no scope for the BNP to participate in 10th parliamentary elections. So if there is to be any dialogue, it can be over 11th general elections,” he said.
Awami League and main opposition BNP have been in disparity over how the upcoming general elections will take place.
However, the Election Commisison has set January 5 the date for the next general elections amidst disapproval from BNP.
Because the main opposition did not sign up for the polls, Awami League is set to win 127 out of the 300 parliamentary constituencies uncontested.
However, BNP are waging agitation ahead of the elections demanding scrap to the election date and a polls-time body without Sheikh Hasina.
Several people have died in the violence through October, November and the running December because of this violence.
