Lakshmipur disctrict Jamaat-e-Islami chief Foyez Ahmed’s dead body was disposed at the gates of Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital early on Saturday.
Family claimed plain-clothed law enforcers broke into the Sadar area residence and shot dead the Jamaat leader, however, police denied.
A group of people identifying themselves as law enforcers entered the Kawsar Manjil house of Foyez Ahmed in North Temuni area, family said.
“Some of them were wearing masks. They took him to the roof, shot him and dropped him off the building,” wife Marzan Begum said.
Mohammad Alam, 25, a neighbour, claimed the law enforcers broke in through the main gate and shot the Jamaat-e-Islami leader.
“They dropped the body off the roof. They also searched for his younger son, Billal, threatening to kill him if he is spotted,” he claimed.
Lakshmipur police Officer-in-Charge Kabir Ahmed said he did not know of the incident, but admitted that the body was found in Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.
“Law enforcers are conducting raids throughout the district,” he said. “But, I do not know of this incident.”
Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital emergency medical officer, Joynal Abedin, said a vehicle dropped the body of Foyez Ahmed near hospital gates around 1:30am.
The incident took place after four people died during a mayhem in Lakshmipur Thursday, that left at least four people dead, 20 others shot and scores injured.
