Hefazat cancels Friday’s demo

Hefazat-e-Islami has postponed its pre-scheduled demonstration programmes for Friday amid the possibility of unrest following the execution of war criminal Abdul Quader Molla.

Organizing Secretary of the organisation Azizul Haque Islamabadi confirmed the cancellation of the program to the Dhaka Tribune.

Earlier on December 9, Hefazat-e-Islami at a press conference announced that if it were restrained from holding a two-day-long conference on December 12 and 13, it would stage a demonstration on December 13 and enforce a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the port city on December 15.

The Hefazat leader announced that they would hold a grand rally, scheduled for December 24 at Shapla Chattar in Dhaka, at any cost.
