Khaleda: Government responsible for violence

The government has to take responsibility for the ongoing violence across the country, claimed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

She made the statement in a press release on Thursday.

“The law enforcers and ruling party men are killing people in the country while inciting violence, and they are blaming the opposition men,” Khaleda claimed.

The BNP chief urged the nation to continue the movement towards holding the polls under the non-party caretaker government with the participation of all political parties.

“The ruling Awami League is misleading people through propaganda to divert their attention away from the demands of the opposition,” said the opposition leader.

In this regard, she urged the government to move forward towards reaching a consensus through dialogue which is now ongoing with the initiative of special envoy of the United Nations, Oscar Fernadez Taranco.

In the statement Khaleda prayed for the departed souls who were killed in the police firing today in Laxmipur.

“I pray for them who have already sacrificed their lives to establish the rights of the people,” said the BNP Chairperson adding, “I would also like to express my sympathy for the bereaved family members.”
