Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, the key ally of the main opposition BNP, on Sunday has called a nationwide dawn-to-dusk hartal for Monday protesting the death warrant issued against war criminal Quader Molla.
Jamaat acting secretary general Shafiqur Rahman issued a statement in this regard on Sunday.
According to the statement, Jamaat termed the death warrant of Quader Molla as "the planned political execution”.
Earlier in the day, the International Crimes Tribunal issued the death warrant for war criminal Abdul Quader Molla.
Quader Molla was the first to have been sentenced to lifetime imprisonment by the war crimes tribunal in February 5.
Later, the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973 was changed in light of widespread protests towards providing an equal scope of appeal for prosecution and defence.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court revised the sentence of Quader Molla to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
