PM busy, JP ministers post resignation letters

After failing to get the PM’s appointment, all the six Jatiya Party ministers and an advisor to the prime minister have sent their resignation letters to the premier on Sunday by post.

JP Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howladar told this to reporters in the afternoon.

Earlier on Saturday, Hawlader had said that prime minister could not afford time for them because of the ongoing blockades and the foreign guest visiting the country.

Rowshan Ershad, health minister, Anisul Islam Mahmud, water resources minister, and Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, advisor to the prime minister have submitted their resignation letter to party chief HM Ershad on Sunday morning.

On December 5, four ministers of Jatiya Party in the polls-time all-party government handed in their resignation letters over to Ershad.

The ministers are Ruhul Amin Hawlader, civil aviation and tourism minister, GM Quader, commerce minister and Mujibul Haq Khan Chunnu, state minister for youth and sports, and Salma Islam, state minister for women and children affairs.

Earlier, in November, an interim cabinet was formed as per ruling Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s proposal for an ‘all-party’ cabinet to oversee the upcoming polls.

Six ministers of the 29-member polls-time cabinet are from Jatiya Party who took oaths on November 21.
