Khoka on 2-day remand

A Dhaka Court on Thursday placed detained BNP Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka on two-day remand in a case filed with Shahbagh police station.

Metropolitan Magistrate MA Salam passed the order after police produced Khoka before the court with a 20-day remand plea.

The court also rejected the bail and remand petitions in the case filed with Ramna police station.

Earlier, the detained BNP leader was brought to the CMM court sometime around 4pm.

Also the Dhaka metropolitan unit convenor for the BNP, Khoka has been shown arrested in several cases, including attempt to murder, filed under the Explosive Substance Act 1908.

Earlier on Wednesday night, Rab personnel arrested Former Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Khoka from his residence in the capital’s Uttara sector-4 at around 9:45pm.

Khoka had been in hiding since November 26 after the announcement of the rail, road and waterway blockade.

On November 12, police filed a case against 26 opposition activists, including Khoka, for an arson attack on a human hauler.
