BNP boycotted polls because they fell behind in a statistics provided by Democracy International, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the prime minister's son said on Wednesday.
Awami League was leading BNP in the polls conducted in October, he said holding up some statistics in his official Facebook page.
“I predicted it two years ago that BNP will not join in polls unless they are sure to win,” he said. “They went against polls in October after tables started turning.”
He said that BNP were leading in popularity before October. “Then we began public relations and caught up.”
“Why would my mother resign? She has done nothing wrong, not manipulate a single of the 6,000 elections during Awami League rule,” he said.
“You can have a completely level-playing field, but if the other team refuses to play because of knowing a sure loss beforehand there is nothing to do,” he said.
He reiterated that BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami has been conducting “terrorist” activities in recent times.
