Chittagong Chhatra Dal city unit declared a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Tuesday, protesting filing of “false” cases against BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders.
Chhatra Dal city unit President Gazi Shiraj announced the hartal through a press note released on Monday afternoon.
According to the press release, some BNP and Jamaat leaders, including BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin, BNP Chittagong city unit President Amir Khoshru Muhammad Chowdhury and Jamaat MP ANM Shamsul Alam, were sued over “fake” cases filed against them over violence conducted during 18-party alliance programmes.
