Awami League on Friday announced the names of its candidates for the upcoming national polls.
Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam made the announcement at the party's Dhanmodi offices around 5:45pm.
While addressing the press, he said the parliamentary board has approved the list containing the names of the party's final candidates.
He said: "We are announcing the names of Awami League candidates only. The party may revise the final list as the Awami League is allied with 14-party."
From the announcement it was learned that Sheikh Hasina will compete for a seat in Rangpur.
Mentioning that elections are an important part of national life, Syed Ashraful requested all other parties in the country to join the upcoming polls.
Earlier on November 10, the ruling Awami League started selling nomination forms to select candidates for the upcoming general elections.
On November 25, the Election Commission announced the schedule of the upcoming 10th general election.
Amidst a number of protest programmes staged by the BNP-led opposition alliance, the Awami League activists across the country are making preparations for the polls with enthusiasm as the ruling party has started selling nomination papers.
