PM: BNP chief should come to the street

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday said the opposition leader was killing innocent people on the streets and pushed the country to a complete anarchy, but kept herself aloof from the street-agitation and living lavish life in the house.

“If you want to wage movement and test public support to your demand, you should come to the street,” the Awami League chief said at a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board at her Dhanmondi office.

She said the next election would be held at the right time. She bitterly criticised the BNP-Jamaat for their efforts to kill hundreds of people by derailing rail tracks.

Hasina said the opposition parties were hiring children to hurl bombs and engage them in subversive activities.

She also criticised the recent move of some eminent persons to request the president for his intervention to end the present political crisis.

The premier was hopeful about resolving the impasse through dialogue.
