Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is staging demonstrations across the country today, protesting the recent announcement made by election commission stating that the party could not participate in the upcoming polls.
Party acting secretary general Rafiqul Islam Khan issued a written statement in this regard on Wednesday.
Calling the announcement “unconstitutional” and “illegal” the statement reads: “The election commission set up by Awami League government is planning to hold a one sided election.”
Claiming that the government is trying to plot against the party by using the EC, the statement read: “The government is hatching a multifaceted conspiracy against Jamaat to refrain them from participating in the national election. The Election Commission is being used as a tool to annihilate us.”
The press release also claimed that people want resignation of the biased EC official as well as the government.
The press note urged all countrymen to make the demonstration a success.
