BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday alleged that the government has stopped the supply of food and water to Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan house.
He came up with the allegation while talking to reporters at the party’s Nayapaltan offices in the afternoon.
After leaving her Cantonment house in 2010, she had been residing at her younger brother Shamim Iskander's house in Gulshan. Later in 2011, the opposition leader shifted to a rented house in the same area.
Earlier in the day, replying to the question whether Khaleda was currently under house arrest, he said: "The people of the country, as well as party men, want to know the same thing as well."
On the other hand, in replying to questions from journalists, Home Minister MK Anwar said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has not been kept under house arrest.
Mentioning that the government is responsible for the security of the opposition leader, the minister said: “Security measures have been strengthened around her residence as part of the responsibility.”
