The main opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance will stage rallies across the country on November 1, the day ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance is also scheduled to hold rallies.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at a rally in city’s Suhrawardy Udyan this afternoon.
The opposition alliance will hold the rally demanding the release of its detained leaders and the withdrawal of false cases filed against them.
Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, MK Anwar, Abdul Moin Khan, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Abdullah Al Noman were also present at the rally.
Earlier on Wednesday, the party was granted permission on 11 conditions. The party applied for permission to hold the rally in front of the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters but Dhaka Metropolitan Police Authorities granted permission to hold it at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
On Monday, the grand alliance announced to hold rallies across the country on November 1 to protest the anarchy and violence carried out by the opposition during 60-hour hartal.
