State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam has alleged that the attack on content creator Salman Muqtadir’s studio was staged and that the blame was subsequently shifted to the BNP.
“The perpetrators themselves orchestrated the attack on Salman Muqtadir’s studio, yet the blame was shifted onto the BNP. Ironically, the person arrested in connection with the incident is the son-in-law of a Jamaat MP. Such incidents clearly reveal the underlying conspiracy,” he said.
He made the remarks around 8pm on Tuesday while addressing a rally following a torchlight procession organised by the Shibganj upazila and municipal BNP units.
The program was organised to protest what BNP leaders described as conspiracies, orchestrated terrorism and anarchy by clandestine and banned groups.
The state minister alleged that clandestine and banned groups were engaging in subversive activities as part of a plot to bring former prime minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country.
“Through various conspiracies, they are attempting to destabilise the nation and mislead the public. However, they must bear one thing in mind: the people of this country will no longer accept Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
He said the government was working to meet people’s expectations, maintain democratic continuity and uphold law and order.
“No form of terrorism, anarchy or conspiracy aimed at disrupting this progress will be tolerated,” he said.
Mir Shahe Alam also said the BNP had come to power through street-level movements and struggles with public support.
“Therefore, threatening the BNP with ouster is futile; the party cannot be suppressed through conspiracies or intimidation,” he said.
Earlier, Mir Shahe Alam led the torchlight procession, which began at the Shibganj Upazila Parishad premises.
A large number of BNP leaders and activists from its affiliated organisations took part in the procession before joining the rally organised by the Shibganj upazila and municipal BNP units.
